Contacts if Seeking Work

The Career Development Centre  website lists regional jobs daily on its Jobs Board. It also lists casual work which is available throughout the region. In addition, it provides career development services for people within the region.

There are a number of ways you can search for work in the Limestone Coast.

  • Access out regional papers for print advertisements.  We have a number of daily and weekly newspapers - Border Chronicle; The Border Watch ; Coastal Leader; The Naracoorte Herald; the South Eastern Times and the Penola Pennant.  Some of these papers list their employment vacancies online.  If you don’t have access to the Internet, consider finding a local newsagency that stocks the papers or putting in a postal order.  Local papers are also a good way to find out what is happening in regional areas.
  • Check out the Jobsearch Australia website for the ‘South East’ region, South Australia.
  • Visit if possible.  Plan it well – do some research about opportunities first and consider approaching employers directly.
  • Register interest with local employment providers.  Search for their details using the Yellow Pages online .
  • Use any contacts you have who are already here. Friends and relatives are a good source of information and support and can keep an ‘ear’ out for opportunities that may not be formally advertised.
  • If you know you have a skill in demand, consider placing your own advertisement in local papers in the ‘Employment Wanted’ section.  A name may not be necessary but be sure to leave contact details so that a potential employer can make contact with you immediately.
